The straight answer to this question is “yes.”

The success rate of dental implants is around 99%, so you shouldn’t have to worry about any complications when getting a dental implant. You should be able to survive the surgery and recovery process without any major impediments.

What Can Cause Implant Complications?

There are some medical preexisting conditions or other circumstances that can cause problems with your dental implant surgery. They can include the following:

  • Gum disease
  • Insufficient Jawbone
  • Smocking
  • Poor oral hygiene
  • Other medical conditions like diabetes or rheumatoid arthritis

Even if these conditions are not on this list, there are several other things that can cause dental implants to fail, regardless of whether the surgery was successful. You should always be aware of the following during recovery:

Infections

In most cases, you don’t have to worry about the onset of an infection. This is especially true if you follow the surgeon’s instructions during recovery.

But that doesn’t mean you won’t get infected. When infected, it can cause more serious problems. However, in most cases, prescription medications (prescribed by the surgeon as needed) should be able to treat the infection. If you have an autoimmune disorder, poor oral hygiene, or are a smoker, you are more likely to get infected.
