Melissa – Registered Dental Hygienist
Melissa Dunn joined our practice and dental hygiene department in December, 2007. Melissa is originally from Washington, North Carolina and received her Associates degree in Science from Peace College in 2003 followed by a Bachelors Degree in Science and Dental Hygiene from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 2006. Melissa favorite thing about dentistry is the personal connections she gets to make with patients while helping them obtain optimum dental health. She and her husband Chris have a newborn daughter, Mary Addison. Melissa enjoys working out, the beach, shopping and spending time with her family and friends.
Stephanie – Registered Dental Hygienist
Stephanie is originally from Greensboro, NC and has lived in the Raleigh area since she graduated from dental hygiene school in 2006. She received her Bachelor’s Degree from UNC-Chapel Hill and continues to enjoy cheering on the Tar Heels! Stephanie joined the Cary Family Dental team in March of 2011, and is so happy to be part of such a great dental family. Stephanie enjoys traveling with her husband, but is mostly enjoying being a new Mom to their son! She looks forward to meeting you soon!
Dana – Registered Dental Hygienist
Dana is from Sanford, NC. Dana joined Cary Family Dental in March 2012. She graduated with an Associate’s Degree in Dental Hygiene from Central Carolina Community College in Sanford. Dana’s favorite thing about dentistry is building relationships with patients and educating them on good oral health. In Dana’s spare time she enjoys spending time with her family and friends and going to the beach with her husband Chad.
Casey – Registered Dental Hygienist
Casey is originally from Kinston NC. She joined the practice early 2012. She graduated from Wake Technical Community College in 2007 as a Certified Dental Assistant. She worked in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery for four years and then pursued Dental Hygiene. She became a Registered Dental Hygienist in 2010. She has currently been accepted to The University of Bridgeport so she can complete her bachelor’s degree in dental science. She loves dentistry and wants to grow as a dental professional. She is very hardworking and dedicated. The loves of her life include two little Chihuahuas. One little monster named Cabo and a sweet little girl named Cali.
Petra – Registered Dental Hygienist
Petra was born in Bratislava, Slovakia and at the age of 8, she and her family immigrated to London, Ontario, Canada. Petra has been passionate about dental hygiene since she was 12yrs old. After graduating from dental assisting, she went on to attend Niagara College to pursue her dream of being a Dental Hygienist. Petra has been married to her high school sweetheart Nick for 15yrs. They moved to Cary, NC in 1998 to start a construction company. They have lived in Cary, Apex, Fuquay-Varina and currently reside in Pittsboro with their 9yr old triplet sons-Lucas, Marek and Adam. They love their 5yr old Bullmastiff dog named Cooper and their 2yr old rescued cat Sawyer. Petra works part-time so she can enjoy quality time with her family, while continuing her passion for dental hygiene. When she in not at Cary Family Dental, Petra can be found volunteering at her children’s school, or cheering for her boys on the baseball and soccer fields. Petra and her family LOVE the North Carolina mountains, as well as travelling to visit family in Canada and Europe. Petra also speaks fluent Slovak and Czech and looks forward to meeting patients with whom she can converse in her native language.
Amanda – Dental Hygienist
Amanda is the newest hygienist added to the Cary Family Dental team! She began working with us in December of 2013 after graduating from the UNC School of Dentistry in May of 2013. She is originally from Stuart, Florida but grew up in Harnett County, NC. Her favorite part about dentistry is developing a lasting relationship with her patients and guiding them in the right direction of optimal oral health. She has a passion for traveling abroad and exploring the world. In the Spring of 2012 she went to Honduras while in Dental Hygiene School to do a dental brigade in a rural town outside of Tegucigalpa and hopes to someday do another dental service trip abroad with her new Cary Family Dental family! When shes not at work she likes running, going to the beach, water skiing and spending time with family and friends.
Deedie – Patient Care Coordinator
Deedie was born and raised in Fuquay-Varina, North Carolina. She recently got in the dental world about 2 years ago. She has always been comfortable working in customer service and is excited to be at Cary Family Dental. Deedie graduated from North Carolina State University in 2005. She worked as a flight attendant for 8 years before she put her feet back on the ground and bought a house in Apex. Deedie enjoys spending time with her neighborhood friends and family. She volunteers her time at the SPCA in Raleigh and has never met a dog she did not like. She looks forward to getting to know you better and to accommodate and answer any request or questions you might have.
Sara – Patient Care Coordinator
We are proud to welcome Sara to the Cary Family Dental team as our Patient Care Coordinator. Sara is a Michigan native who has been proud to call the Carolinas her home for the past 9 years. Sara moved to the Triangle in mid 2013 and became a CFD team member shortly after. Currently, Sara is a part time Business Management student. She loves applying her customer service background to provide patients with a fantastic experience at Cary Family Dental. In her spare time, Sara enjoys all things crafty. Sara looks forward to assisting you today!
Nicole – Patient Care Coordinator
We welcome Nicole our Patient Care Coordinator and Call Center Representative. Nicole is a North Carolina native and has a diverse background as an administrative healthcare professional. Recently she earned her Master’s in Health Care Administration form Strayer University in 2013. Her passion is to provide a personal touch to each patient’s dental experience and in her free time she is enjoys learning and spending time with friends, family and her two cats Dexter “Kitty” and Jax.
Beth – Practice Administrator
Beth is originally from Northern Virginia and moved to Raleigh in 2002. She has been in the field of dentistry for over 26 years. Her beginnings were as a dental assistant and then into the administrative department as a Practice Administrator. In 2008, Beth was nominated and received a national award from Crown Council as “Office Manager of the Year”. Beth is also co-founder and vice-president of a local study group for Practice Administrator in the Raleigh/Cary area. Beth started at Cary Family Dental in November 2003 just a few months after they opened. Dentistry is something Beth has enjoyed since she left high school. The opportunity to make a difference in people’s lives is a gift that is returned to her in her daily interactions with every patient she meets. Beth is married with one grown son that is currently serving in the US Marines. Beth enjoys reading, going to the beach and spending time with her family.
Taryn – Lead Dental Assistant II
Taryn, originally from Western New York, came to North Carolina in 2003 to pursue a degree in Biology and Chemistry at Meredith College. After graduating in 2007, she was accepted into the Dental Assisting program at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and graduated as one of the top in her class. Taryn joined Cary Family Dental in September of 2008 and thoroughly enjoys it. She loves seeing the impact of dentistry and how it is a life changing experience for many. Taryn enjoys traveling and hiking in her spare time as well as spending time with family and friends.
Amanda – Dental Assistant II
Amanda grew up in South Carolina, and moved here in 2002 from Atlanta, Georgia. At that time she was doing office management and bookkeeping. Her husband, “Kostas” is from Greece but she met him here in Raleigh. (Hence the last name) All together they have four wonderful children and many pets. After being a stay at home mom for a few years she knew she couldn’t go back to office work. But she had always had an interest in dentistry. So she went back to school for Dental Assisting and went straight to work after graduating. She has been loving it ever since, and she says her true passions are children, animals and dentistry. When the opportunity came up Amanda could not have been happier to join the Cary Family Dental team.
Randi – Dental Assistant II
Randi, a Sanford North Carolina native, joined the Cary Family Dental team in January 2012. Randi knew at a young age she wanted to be a part of the dental career field. As a young orthodontic patient at UNC Chapel Hill’s School of Dentistry she underwent orthognathic surgery to correct her smile. This experience made a lasting impression and got her interested in dentistry. She knows first hand how important it is, as a patient, to have a trust-worthy, comfortable, and joyful experience. As a dental assistant she is committed to making sure each patient has such an experience. Randi graduated from Central Carolina Community College’s inaugural dental assisting class in May, 2008. She was awarded the highest academic achievement in her class. She is thrilled to be part of such an awesome dental team and loves working at Cary Family Dental. In her free time, Randi enjoys spending time with her family and friends, outdoor activities, and traveling.
Amanda – Dental Assistant II
Amanda is a Durham native and loves everything about North Carolina except the Tarheels, despite attending school at UNC Chapel Hill. Amanda originally attended culinary school, but always desired a career in healthcare, especially dentistry. Amanda began her career in dentistry in 2014 and has been working at Cary Family Dental since early 2015. What Amanda enjoys the most about being a dental assistant is the impact dentistry has on every aspect of a patient’s life. Amanda appreciates the ability to give back to the community through her career, especially at Cary Family Dental. Amanda married her high school sweetheart last year and they live in Raleigh with their cat, Simba. In her spare time, Amanda takes delight in cooking, reveling in a good Netflix series or novel and rejoices in serving at her church. She looks forward to making you smile.
Courtney – Patient Care Specialist
Courtney is originally from Burlington, NC and has been in Cary for over 13 years. Courtney is one of our newest patient care coordinators, but has over 7 years experience in the dental field. She lives for helping patients achieve their dream smile and how something so simple, but important, can change a persons life. Courtney loves salsa dancing, cooking and being a cheer mom. She married her high school sweetheart and together they have a beautiful daughter named Bella. She looks forward to meeting your needs.
Lauren, originally from Germantown, Maryland, grew up in Pittsboro, North Carolina. She is a recent graduate from the UNC School of Dentistry Dental Assisting Program where she received the Sara O’Daniel Dental Assisting Clinical Experience Award. Lauren joined the team this past April and is ecstatic that she found a dental team that is very focused on patient needs and overall patient experience. She loves going to work everyday and helping patients improve their dental health! When she is not at work you can find her spending time with her family and friends, crafting, or watching football.
Kristina – Certified Dental Assistant
Kristina is originally from Florida. After getting her Bachelor’s degree in Biology from Stetson University in 2013, she moved to Chapel Hill to attend UNC’s Dental Assisting program. Kristina joined Cary Family Dental in August 2014. In her spare time, she enjoys outdoor activities, traveling, and relaxing with her family.
Candice was born in Syracuse, NY and moved to Raleigh in the 5th grade. She has lived in NC ever since. She graduated from Wake Tech with a degree in Dental Hygiene in 2008. She loves spending time with her husband and three very active children. Candice’s favorite thing about dentistry is getting to know her patients as well as educating them so they will not only know “how” to improve their oral health but “why”.
